FRAIL - A COMMUNITY TRANSCENDING TIME AND SPACE
Hardcore, screamo and DIY have always acted as the voice of generations, and from spring 1993 to fall 1995, Philadelphia hardcore legends Frail were that voice. Returning with the recent wave of screamo revival, Frail reunites the DIY community for four electrifying shows! Brandishing their unique brand of hardcore punk laden with demands of free self-expression, empathy, communication, and love from its listeners.
Frail kick off the second leg of their reunion tour at Union Firehouse Mt. Holly, NJ, May 8 then play Green Beacon Gallery Greensburg, PA, May 9, Blind Rage Fest Yellow Cab Tavern Dayton, OH, May 10 and Beat Kitchen Chicago, IL, May 12, with tickets available to purchase through the hyperlinks above.
Frail began as five kids in high school that desperately wanted to make music which reflected their values of communication & inclusion and brought their community together. With their true passion for DIY music and convictions, the four piece from Philly left an indelible mark on hardcore recording twenty songs across several now out of print demo tapes and LPs.
As of now, Numero Group has recovered seventeen of those twenty pieces of hardcore history into Frail’s No Industry cassette compilation mastered by Jessica Thompson. The No Industry compilation tape is currently available online and will be available during the tour as well with fun Frail iconography T-shirts, snappy Frail ball caps, power to the people pins, and potentially some hand screened patches exclusively at each tour date.
As fans may view Frail with a fond nostalgia for their powerful, chaotic performances and shows ending with bloody floors, Frail remains as a beacon of unity and inclusion and scrappy DIY hardcore to this day. The power of community and unfiltered energy that Frail manifested in backyards and basements in the 90s is still found today invoked on that stage in their live performances in every room they enter, you just need to go out there and find it yourself:
“IT’S NOT NOSTALGIA. WHEN WE ARE IN A ROOM TOGETHER, SOMETHING HAPPENS. IT IS RAW, URGENT AND ALIVE.
MORE THAN EVER, I THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO GET OUT AND BE WITH PEOPLE. THAT IS THE BEAUTY OF HARDCORE AND FRAIL IS HARDCORE BAND. YOU ARE LIFTED AND YOU ARE LIFTING. IT’S CATHARTIC AND FUN”
- ERIC @FRAIL_BURNSANDBURNS
